Rebecca Ungerman In Concert Thursday. Wanna go?

UPDATE//Congrats, JenHanson5! You're going to Rebecca Ungerman's concert and CD release party Thursday night - that is, if you e-mail me PDQ to claim your prize.

Thanks, everyone, for entering! Don't forget, tickets to the show are just $20.

Rebecca Ungerman

Rebecca Ungerman has long been a fixture on the Tulsa music scene. Last year, her fans voted her Urban Tulsa Weekly's Absolute Best Female Vocalist of 2009. And that's a big damn deal, y'all.

What most locals don't know is that Rebecca travels all over the world teaching and working with Jewish teenagers as both a musician and a Judaic educator. For the first time ever, Rebecca combines her faith and her award-winning sound in an all-new album.

She'll celebrate the release of the new music, The Jewish Album, with a concert at Studio K on Thursday (tomorrow!), May 20, 2010 at 7pm. It doesn't matter if you're Jewish or the farthest thing from it - anyone can enjoy Ungerman's music, especially if you appreciate unabashed awesomeness.

And, if you're lucky, you could go to this concert. For free.

The Jewish Album takes both modern and traditional Jewish music and filters them through Ungerman's musical sensibilities. Never before has Jewish music been infused with the Tulsa Sound, and let me tell you, it's a powerful combination. Fans both Jewish and gentile alike will enjoy styles that range from rock to Latin, from Dick Dale surf to beautiful ballads.

The Jewish Album was officially released this past February in Dallas at the International Convention of the B'nai Brith Youth Organization. Ungerman and her band rocked a standing-room-only crowd of over 750 teenagers from around the world. The Jewish Album is available now for digital download at Oysongs.com (get it? OySongs.com? The Jewish Album? Ha! I love it!). Hard copies are available locally at Sweet Tooth Candies and Gifts or online at www.cdbaby.com.

Recorded at Valcour Studios with her long-time producing partner Hank Charles, Ungerman is joined on the disc by the members of nationally acclaimed local band The Red Alert and jazz piano sensation (and my buddy) Scott McQuade.

Charles, McQuade and Hank Hanewinkle III also share co-arranging credit with Ungerman on the project. All will reunite at the release party and concert to perform the music from the album and sell and sign CDs.

Tickets are $20 and will be available at the Tulsa Ballet Box office.

So, here's what you do. Buy a few tickets for your buds. Then, enter this contest to win a pair for yourself and someone special.

Head to the comments section on this post. Make a comment, any comment. Be sure to hit submit, and then you'll know you're officially entered into the contest to win tickets to Thursday night's concert. I'll choose the winner tonight at 9pm, so be sure to check back to see if you're the lucky winner.

Peace, love and OySongs,

TDT
