You might not have thought about it before but most things are made up of parts, like a car or a game. Art is made up of parts too! Discover the different parts of art as you learn to find them in artwork in the various galleries of the museum. Afterwards, create your own work of art using different art parts. Kids Dig Books: Exploration and Discovery

Summertime is a wonderful time to explore. There is so much to discover when you are exploring your backyard, your neighborhood, your country and your heritage. Through stories of adventures in exploration, get inspired to do some exploring of your own. After story time, explore your artistic side by creating artwork that reflects the adventures you have heard. Kids Dig Books is presented in collaboration with the Tulsa City-County Library children’s department. Space is limited. For kids aged 3-6 and their caregivers. Yes, admission is free, and parking is, too.

Looking for an excuse to get out of doors and listen to some live, local music? Look no further than this monthly summer concert series. Tonight's band is The David Dover Band, with Molly Blanton and The Lost Perceptions opening. Don't forget your blankets and lawn chairs and picnic baskets, y'all.
Tulsa Shock vs. San Antonio (Orange = Sports events)

Don't miss this game in the inaugural season of the Tulsa Shock, especially since it's Beast Health Awareness Night. The first 2,000 fans through the doors get a pink rally towel, courtesy St. Francis Health System. Shock players will be wearing commemorative pink shooting shirts during warm ups, and fans will be able to bid on them in a silent auction during the game. All proceeds will go to several local women-focused charities, including Tulsa Project Woman.

Glen's Run

Where: Mohawk Park, off of 36th Street North between Sheridan and Memorial
Lace up your sneaks and run either a 3K or an 8K to honor a man who did so much for running in Oklahoma. Glen Lafarlette was a pioneer in developing races in and around Tulsa. He is on the Oklahoma Running Wall of Fame for both his running and his course measuring. All proceeds of this race go to the Glen Lafarlette Foundation. Call (918) 749-7557 for more information.
Kids Triathlon

Where: McClure Park (PDF), 7440 E. 7th Street
The 13th annual Kids Triathlon is a continuous swim, bike and run challenge event. Each child - ages 6-15 are welcome - will do all three events, either on the long course or the short course. Long course participants will swim 150 meters, bike 2 miles and run 1 mile. Registration is $30 (which includes a t-shirt) and can be accepted on race day, but no later than 7:40am.

Live Sculpting with Paul D. Rhymer

bFest: Tulsa Bicycle Music Festival

Inspired by bike music festivals in San Francisco, Vancouver and Portland, bFest rolls live music on Tulsa streets. Musicians will face the audience, all rolling bikes, between stationary venues. The whole show rolls, off the grid, on Tulsa streets - you're gonna have to see it to believe it.

A Murder of Comics at Nightingale Theater

August is known throughout the realm as a dark and dastardly month with no benefit to anyone. Whether this is due to it being the birth month for Dan Fritschie is unknown. Yes, it's true, Fritschie was born in August, and to celebrate this recurring pseudo-holiday, Tulsa's A Murder of Comics invites you to join in this Sunday at the Nightingale Theater for a full night of comedy. Here's the lineup: Josh Mills; Michael Zampino; Brian Spence; Brett Robinson; Leah Kayajanian; Cade; and of course, the man of the month, Dan Fritschie! All proceeds from the event will benefit the Nightingale Theater. All applause from the event will benefit Fritschie's delicate ego. Tickets are $5.
