Guest blogger Dave joins us from his blog, Accidentally Albino, with his review of Tulsa's new location of Edmond-based Peachwave Self Serve Frozen Yogurt, at 7388 Olympia Ave. in Tulsa Hills. Take it away, Dave!
Amid the Hills of Tulsa, ‘neath the Sooner sky, nestled between a GameStop and Tulsa’s best Smashburger is one of Tulsa’s best kept secrets.
Up till a few weeks ago, the closest you could get to having a frozen treat this delicious was to pray that the older gentleman at Braums would slip you an extra dip of Birthday Cake Ice Cream on the house.
But, not any more. Peachwave Self Serve Frozen Yogurt is revolutionizing the way Tulsans enjoy icy delectables.
If you’re ADD like I am, when you hear the words “self serve” you immediately think of a chaotic nightmare. You can literally see the building crumbling down around you. Children are crying, and you’re running away. While Peachwave is definitely as self-serve as it can get, there are some rules to be followed. This keeps us all safe and happy.
1. Grab a cup.
Cups are available in 3 standard sizes, Large (White), Huge (Green), and OMG-BECKY! (Orange). They’ve even added a few cups lined with soft-waffle cone (which is my pick).
2. Dispense frozen yogurt.
This is the difficult part. But with more options than a fully loaded Cadillac, you’re bound to find your favorite combination. Peanut Butter, Coffee, White Chocolate, Standard Chocolate, Cheesecake, Tiramisu, Strawberry, Raspberry, and Classic White Tart are just a few of the amazing flavors of frozen yogurt to choose from.
The machines work just like you’d expect them to. Two flavors are loaded on each machine, and the center mechanism twists the two together into one delicious creation. The people behind Peachwave were brilliant in their pairings. Some of the greatest flavor combinations in the history of tastebuds can be found on this magical wall of Froyo Pump Heaven: Cheesecake/Tiramisu, White Chocolate/Coffee, White Tart/Peach and Classic Chocolate/Peanut Butter. If you’re extraordinarily particular about your flavor combos, you can single pump your own combination. The beauty of it all is that it’s entirely up to you.
3. Pick Your Favorite Toppings
After settling on a yogurt combination, the options multiply at the Toppings Bar. It’s loaded with everything from Fruity Pebbles to SnickerChunks, diced pineapple to fresh kiwi.
If you’re a nutty person, Peachwave offers crushed peanuts, whole cashews, roasted pecans, macadamia and almonds. If you’re a cereal fan there's Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Pebbles, Capt’n Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Rice Krispies, and Corn Flakes. If you’re crazy about candy there's a mountain of it. And, if you’re more of a natural flavor enthusiast there's cherries, peaches, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, banana, kiwi and shredded coconut.
Needless to say, if you can’t find what you’re looking for with such a vast array of possibilities, it’s the opinion of this pale blogger that you never will.
4. Weigh and pay
This is where the novelty of making your own loaded dessert hits you in the pocketbook.
Actually, your wallet won’t be any lighter than if you were to visit any of the other frozen eateries in town. At 33 cents per ounce, my family spent $10 for three cups. And, when you spend $20, Peachwave gives you a voucher for $2 off your next visit.
How’s that for thrifty treats?

I'm a little embarrassed to say just how many times I've had a froyo in the last 2 weeks,so I won't! I can highly recommend the original tart, pineapple, pomegranate, orange & strawberry, in that order.I'm a purist tho' no toppings or fruit, just yogurt.
I first discovered Peach Wave the day it opened, by accident.
Now, on the other size of Tulsa (right by the Woodland Hills Mall) there is a new, exactly the same one: Orange Leaf. And across the street from that one, there is one opening called Twist Berry.
It's a self-serve frozen yogurt revolution in Tulsa!
(And, if you're in Broken Arrow, Cherry Berry just opened up!)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Tiramisu!!
This post is hilarious. I hadn't realized there were so many froyo options in Tulsa. I heard about Cherry Berry's opening on the news, and frozen yogurt is all I've been able to think of since. And this made it worse. Or better. I dunno. But I need froyo and soon.
The Frozen Yogurt shops is getting so hot this year! I love the white chocolate and coffee mix, mmmmm...
