Looking to Cut Loose, Tulsa Parents?

Tasha's Kid Tells All

The parenting gig, it can be tough. Know what makes it easier for my fellow local caretakers?

Ttownmoms.com, a social networking site for Tulsa-area parents.

If you've got kids and you've somehow managed to not yet get involved with this busy, resourceful group of parents, it's extra-easy to dive in this week.

First is a play date at Whiteside Community Center, at 4009 S. Pittsburgh (a few blocks west of Yale Avenue on 41st Street). It kicks off at 9:30 a.m., and it's an exciting time filled with every type of ball sport you can imagine, trikes, trampolines and slides. It's fun for kids of all ages, and for parents and grandparents it's a time to relax and connect with other local kiddo wranglers. Did I mention that it'll only set you back 50 cents per child? And that there will be free snacks and juice for the kids afterward? It's true.

Second, this Friday night is our monthly Mom's Night Out event. This time we'll be washing our best non-mom jeans and heading out to Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill in Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Catoosa (just off I-44, west of the Claremore exit - it's the only high-rise in Catoosa, you can't miss it). Appetizers are on the house, so take a minute right now to RSVP.

You don't have to be signed up with Ttownmoms.com to come to these events, but why wouldn't you want to be linked in with a wealth of resources and buddies who love to share about the best of the best things in Tulsa to do with your kids? Plus, it's easy as pie to sign up. Here's what you do:

Put some letters and numbers in the appropriate boxes and Voila! All done. And look at this new toy you get to play with during nap time (click to enlarge):

See? It's like a mom-centric, Facebook-style profile page. You can update your status, friend other moms, read parent-relevant news, write blog posts, upload photos of your cute kiddos, send your mom friends virtual mani/pedis and more. It's fun. It's good. It's free.

Mmm, free.

See you in cyberspace, my fellow parental units!

I wish this group, or groups like it, would once in a while schedule a playdate like the one you mentioned in the evening or on the weekends. I'd love to go to something like that, but I work.

Or, maybe someone should organize a working mom's version of Ttownmoms.
