1, 2, 3...Puppies!

Puppies!

Please know that I'm sorry for what I'm about to do. I really, really am.

Puppies!

But, misery needs company.

Puppies!

This is what I found when my son and I went to my grandparents' last night. A few weeks ago they decided they wanted two tiny Cairn Terrier puppies, both with boundless energy, to live with them at their house.

Puppies!

"Hey, cat! Get a load of the cutest puppy belly you ever SAW!"

Puppies!

One glance at that puppy ear (which smells even better than it looks, by the way - the smell of puppy head is second only to the smell of human baby head), and who could blame them?

I do blame them, though, for naming the puppies Bonnie and Clyde. I mean, come on. How stinkin' cute is that? The puppies were cute to begin with, but the names, that's just pourin' it on.

Puppies!

My grandparents' place, just minutes from Tulsa, is perfect for puppies. There's lots of wide, open space for them to explore. And to work out their wiggles, of course.

Incidentally, wide, open spaces are great for toddlers and their wiggle work, too.

It's even better (for, ahem, napping, cough) when they work together.

Puppies!

"Hey, Mom? These puppies are great and all, but don't they know that it's all about me?

"Imma gonna go somewhere else so you can take pictures of just me, okay? We don't really want puppies in all of our pictures of me, do we?"

Puppies!

Puppies!

Sorry, kiddo. It's no use. You've made friends, and now they're yours forever.

Puppies!

Puppies!

Um...son?

Puppies!

"I'm sorry, Mom. I just really needed some alone time."

Puppies!

Puppies!

"Oh, Bonnie. You're so cute. Okay, I guess you can come in. But just you, okay?"

Puppies!

Puppies!

Puppies!

"Forehead kisses, huh, Clyde? Two words: Access approved."

Puppies!

Puppies!

"Wait a second here."

Puppies!

"Hey, Mama? I've done shot myself in the foot, I think."

Puppies!

"Hey, puppies. I think I've changed my mind."

Puppies!

"And...breathe."

Puppies!

Oh, man.

Is it possible to have puppy fever and baby fever at the same time? Or is my heart due to explode at any moment?

Poor Tasha. There was no hope of leaving that visit without wanting one of your own! Gorgeous puppies, gorgeous little boy---no wonder you have baby fever!

work out their wiggles! Whenever I'm teaching woodwindy kiddos I call any technically challenging runs "wiggle work."

Oh, and it's a good thing you apologized disclaimer style, because....I LOVE A PUPPY! AND PUPPY BREATH! AND OMG, PUPPY TUMMIES!

Thank you for this article, and simultaneously, I hate you.

= )

That is all.
