Tasha's Pick: Akdar Shrine Circus

Where:Expo Square Pavilion, 1791 S. Louisville
The first Akdar Shrine Circus was first held in the Tulsa Coliseum in 1943, and now it's one of the longest-running annual events in Tulsa. This year's acts include the big cats' center ring performance, the seven-man, wire-walking pyramid, acrobatic high flyers and a grand finale featuring Guinness World Record holder David “Cannonball” Smith flying across the arena from the business end of a giant cannon. Annie Get Your Gun

Clark Youth Theatre will take audiences back to the Wild West of Sitting Bull, Buffalo Bill Cody and, of course, Annie Oakley. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students.

Alice in Wonderland @ The Spotlight Theatre

Where: Tulsa Spotlight Theater, 1381 Riverside Drive
A kid-friendly production directed by Joshua Branson Barker and Mindy Barker, who brought you The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Narnia, Peter Pan, and The Wizard of OZ. Tickets are $8 for kids under 12 and $10 for adults.

New Genre: Wong Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
When: Friday, 8pm; Saturday, 8pm
Where: Nightingale Theater, 1416 E. Fourth Street
This show examines larger themes of human isolation, fiction as a mode of cultural and psychic survival and skewers the bureaucracy of low-income mental health services. Somber subject matter, yes, but a funny show. Plus, it's part of the New Genre festival that takes Tulsa's art scene by storm each year. Tickets are $10, or $7 for members and students.

Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom
When: Friday, 8pm; Saturday, 8pm; Sunday, 2pm
Where: Tulsa PAC, 110 E. Second Street
Teenagers who live in a suburban subdivision with identical houses are addicted to an online horror video game starring, what else, zombies as they take over a subdivision with identical houses. Sound familiar? Tickets are $25.

A Song for Coretta
When: Friday, 8pm; Saturday, 8pm; Sunday, 3pm
Where: Tulsa PAC, 110 E. Second Street
People of all ages stood patiently for hours, waiting to say goodbye to the widow of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. when she died in 2006. The remaining few were the inspiration for five fictional characters in this play. Tickets are $15.

New Genre: Portico Dans Theatre at Contemporary Dance New Genre
When: Friday, 8pm; Saturday, 8pm
Where: Liggett Studio, 314 S. Kenosha Ave.
Enjoy an evening of innovative dance. Along with performances from Living Water Dance Co. and artist Nina Madsen, PDT will preview Air, Earth and Water, excerpts from the "Elements" series at Living Arts. Seating is limited and is $10 for members and students, $12 for the general public.

New Genre: Dear Nebulon

Where: Nightingale Theater, 1416 E. Fourth Street
The band Recorder collaborates with Tulsa playwright John Cruncleton to stage their songs as a performance piece starring a local eccentric, frequenter of Orpha's Lounge and possible alien, Nebulon. Tickets are $10, or $7 for members.

Tasha's Pick: Decopolis Deco Ball

Grab your top hats and pearls for a fundraiser for the Tulsa Art Deco Museum and a glamorous night on the town. Think red carpet, antique cars, live jazz music, dance lessons, 20s and 30s costume prizes, deco art and artifacts, a silent auction, party games and some good old-fashioned, roaring good times. Holland Hall Book Fair

Grand American Arms Show

Impressionist Still Life in Oils

Where: Gilcrease Museum, 1400 N. Gilcrease Road
Students will come away from this class, taught my artist Margaret Aycock, with new drawing skills, paint mixing and composition, and they'll learn the process of painting the Impressionist Still Life. Since its founding, the Signature Symphony has celebrated young musicians from Oklahoma. For this concert, they offer one of the truly bright stars on the classical music scene. Cellist Josh Roman from Oklahoma City, former principal with the Seattle Symphony, returns home to play the Miklos Rozsa Cello Concerto.

This, my friends, is the mother of all consignment sales. We're talking infant, kids' and maternity clothing. And cribs. And changing tables, swings, Port-a-cribs, strollers, toys, bassinets, high chairs, movies, exersaucers/walkers, books, games, and furniture, all in one place at one time. If you haven't been to a Just Between Friends sale, you haven't lived. I buy 90 percent of my son's clothing at the Tulsa JBF Sales (there's one for spring like the one this weekend, and there's one for fall), and if you give a hoot about value, you will, too. Impressionist Still Life in Oils
When: Saturday, 9am-4:30pm; Sunday, 1-4:30pm
Where: Gilcrease Museum, 1400 N. Gilcrease Road
Students will come away from this class, taught my artist Margaret Aycock, with new drawing skills, paint mixing and composition, and they'll learn the process of painting the Impressionist Still Life. Cost is $105, or $90 for museum members. The class is open to students aged 16 and older, and don't forget to pre-register.

Greater Tuna

Sundays in Studio K: Susan Ford Bales

Hear Susan Ford Bales, daughter of former President Gerald Ford, in this lecture and music series hosted by Tulsa Ballet. Bales is an accomplished author, photo journalist and the chairman of the board for the Betty Ford Center for alcohol and drug abuse. Bales now lives in Tulsa (surprise!). Tickets to the talk are $25.

Annie Get Your Gun

Teenagers who live in a suburban subdivision with identical houses are addicted to an online horror video game starring, what else, zombies as they take over a subdivision with identical houses. Sound familiar? Tickets are $25.

A Song for Coretta

People of all ages stood patiently for hours, waiting to say goodbye to the widow of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. when she died in 2006. The remaining few were the inspiration for five fictional characters in this play. Tickets are $15.
