What To Do in Tulsa This Weekend

Tasha's Pick: Fan Appreciation Night with Tulsa 66ers (Orange headings = Sports events)

Where: Tulsa Convention Center, 100 Civic Center
Watch the Tulsa 66ers take on the Iowa Energy with this kick-butt deal: Four premium seats, four sodas, four hot dogs and two popcorns for $44. That's a seat, a Coke, a hot dog and half a giant bag of popcorn for $11. I dare you to find a better deal than that in Tulsa this weekend.
Rogers County Home and Garden Show (Red headings = Community events)

Mini Masters: The Cowboy Life in Art (Green headings = Stuff to do for kids and families)

Experience the life of a cowboy as it appears in works of art by Charles Russell, Olaf Seltzer, Frederic Remington and more. A Brief History of the American Bison (Purple headings = Art and theatre events)

Where: Gilcrease Museum, 1400 N. Gilcrease Museum Road
North America has been home to bison for at least 150,000 years. In that time, bison and their predators have adapted to major environmental changes from the Ice Age to the present. Although bison were nearly exterminated in the 19th century, they have made a dramatic comeback thanks to the efforts of conservationists, ranchers, tribes, state and federal governments. Bob Pickering, Senior Curator at Gilcrease Museum, will discuss this American icon.
Tea Party Express Bus Tour - Tulsa Stop
When: 1-6pm
Where: Expo Square, Lot 13E, 21st and Yale
If you can't get enough tea partying, catch singer Stacey Finnerty, Larry Pratt with Gun Owners of America, State Senator Randy Brogdon, State Representative Dr. Mike Ritze, Jenny White of Restore Oklahoma Public Education, Ken Rice and others. Bring a lawn chair and stay for the entire event.

Opening Reception for Motherland: A View of Our Landscape

Nature is the inspiration for Oklahoma native Kristy Lewis Andrew's paintings. "Motherland, a closer look at our native landscape, is my spiritual connection to the earth," Andrew said. "Whether looking up to the trees or down to the dirt, I see truth and I realize my place. My work speaks to the divinity of nature with a subtext of diversity, harmony and balance." Don't miss it.
First Friday Art Crawl

See tons of what Tulsa's very own art district has to offer, all in one night. Don't forget to nosh and sip at the Brady District restaurants and bars, too.
American Theatre Organ Society Show

Where: First United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow, 122 E. College
See the 1925 movie Ben-Hur starring Ramón Novarro and Francis X. Bushman, the most expensive film ever made during the silent movie era, with accompaniment on the organ by organist Bill Rowland. Admission is free.

Susan Herndon Live at Copper Bar (Blue headings = Music events)

Where: Copper Bar, 15th floor of Price Tower, 510 S. Dewey in Bartlesville
The First Friday Concert Series at Copper Bar in Price Tower kicks off with the return of singer/songwriter Susan Herndon. While you can expect Herndon to express her folk roots in an acoustic performance, her blues and rock voices will shine through – even if slightly restrained. The performance is free. Space is limited, so plan to come a little early.

From Ed Sullivan to Abbey Road!, RAIN covers The Beatles from their beginnings through the psychedelic late '60s and their long-haired, hard-rocking rooftop days. RAIN is said to be a multi-media, multi-dimensional experience, a fusion of historical footage and hilarious television commercials from the 1960s.
The Spontaniacs!

See The Spontaniacs! version of Soap Opera: a 15 minute improvisational play based on words given by the audience. The Spontaniacs! will also perform a murder mystery. Cover is $5 at the door.

If you've been looking for a chance to check out Tulsa's new baseball field, wait no longer. Snag season tickets and Drillers gear and be one of the first to try the new yummies at the concession stands at ONEOK Field for only a buck. Plus, Hornsby's Hangout, a play area for kids featuring a Jupiter Jump, obstacle course, inflatable slide and skeeball, will be operating free of charge during DrillersFest. The TD Williamson Kid Zone playground in the outfield plaza will also be providing entertainment for young fans.

"Under Great White Northern Lights" Documentary Showing

The new documentary "The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights" reveals as much about Canadian culture as it does about Jack and Meg White’s friendship, work ethic and music. The duo eat raw caribou, meet tribal elders, walk along frozen tundra, don traditional kilts and fire a canon — all while touring unconventional places in the summer of 2007 as director Emmett Malloy captured the experience for his film, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. See it right here in Tulsa this Saturday night.
