Ain't That Right, Lamar?

Yes, that is right, Ben Jones.

Yes, this is a still from the late '70s when Broken Arrow-based QuikTrip was running ads on its QT-branded line of products, which included QT Beer and QT Lite. And yes, it's autographed by Ben Jones. And yes, that's Lamar the dog.

"QT" stood for Quittin' Time in this campaign, by the way. Which is the perfect name for a beer, if you ask me. I would have had a six pack or two in my fridge had I not yet to have come into existence. I wasn't even a twinkle in my parents' eyes in the late '70s.

If you'd like to take a trip down memory lane and relive the excitement that were these QuikTrip commercials, grab a copy of Jack Frank's Tulsa A-Z show. It's in the extra features part of the DVD and it's available at Dwelling Spaces.

Which was your favorite QT commercial starring Lamar? Would you like to see Lamar make a come back in a new QT commercial? Sound off in the comments.

Thanks to Jason Taylor for sending this photo. It made me laugh. Really hard.

I was in the DFW area for an extended work assignment some years ago when QT opened a new store in Arlington near my hotel -- right on Lamar Blvd., which tickled me no end. Sadly, the folks in the store didn't appreciate the significance.

I finally got the Tulsa A-Z dvd awhile back and remember seeing those old commercials :)
Also I thought QT was Tulsa based -I know the Corporate Headquarters is right up the road from me - Some people might get confused cause it is really East Tulsa -almost but,not quite in B.A.

At the south entrance of the Quik Trip Center (behind the golden driller), the lobby has various pictures of Quik Trip on the walls from over the years, at least one is of Lamar.

I still have my giant insulated Lamar cup & love it. Last time I went to fill it up at QT, the employee loved it so much that it was filled for free!
