There's more to blogging than twice-reheated coffee, bathrobes and pink bunny house shoes.
At least, I'm pretty sure there is.
From our first meeting in February, Tulsa Blogger Meetup was formed to strengthen the local community of independent, online publishers. We want to encourage excellence in local blogging, too.
We're also fans of giving ourselves a good excuse to get together each month for laughs, beers and the occasional, delicious noms.
We hope you'll join us for what's going on at TBM this month (full details after the jump).
Meet Jeff Martin (click that link for the only website music that didn't piss me off, ever), author and the mastermind behind one of the largest (if not THE largest) Facebook fan followings in Tulsa - that of the Philbrook Museum of Art. He'll tell us how to build a strong Facebook following that could mean increased, quality traffic to your blog as well as a stronger community around your blog's brand.
Holly Wall, senior editor at Tulsa Business Journal, is known in the local news business for her Twitter prowess. She tweets strategically to gather sources for stories, to build the TBJ brand and to establish herself as an expert on what's going on in the Tulsa business community. She'll talk to us about how to use Twitter to build an audience, establish yourself as an expert in your field and to conduct research so that your blog posts deliver what your readers can't find anywhere else.
Both of these cool cats will be speaking to us on Thursday, July 29, from 6:30-8pm at Philbrook Museum of Art, 2727 S. Rockford Ave.
What: Tulsa Blogger Meetup, July 2010 Edition
When: Thursday, July 29, 6:30-8pm
Where: Philbrook Museum of Art, 2727 S. Rockford Ave.
I'd sure appreciate it if you could RSVP here on the TBM Facebook event page.
Admission to the museum is free, which gives you even more skrill to use at the cash bar.

Wait! When?!
what if my blog really, really sucks?
HAHAHAHA!!! I LOVE the blogger anatomy (especially the exploited child). You forgot, "complete and utter lack of vanity." :-)
Will be there!!!!
You look like The Dude in that picture.
i really, really, REALLY hope i can make it!!
Anna - DOLT ALERT! I've been struggling with a case of strep throat/mommy brain this week and totally neglected to put the date/time/venue (read: every single last bit of pertinent information) in the post. DOH! All fixed now, though.
Tex, I'd be pleased as punch if you showed up at a TBM. I've very much wanted to meet you - maybe this could be my chance?
SHM, I hope you can make it, too! Would love to see you again. Bring your hubs if you'd like/can, okay? He seems like a great guy.
This should be a card, poster, or BILLBOARD?!
Tasha, meeting rock stars is always disappointing. I'll probably be extremely drunk and/or unbathed. Plus, I did give up dental hygiene for Lent. I think I just spelled hygiene right. Wow. I'm prone to shouting while running amock. I'll try to make it. Look for a filthy drunk blonde running amock and shouting.
I wish I could go, but I have rehearsal. I'll make it to one some day, dagnabbit.
