The Tulsa United Film Festival
When: 7pm
Where: Joe Momma's, 112 S. Elgin Ave.
There's nothing quite like a film festival in the dog days of summer, and United Film Festivals, which got its start in Tulsa, brings it to T-Town this weekend. Get four full days of indie films and shorts starting tonight with screenings of A Rock-afire Explosion (this screening is free!) and Biker Fox - get the full schedule and buy tickets and passes to the festival here.

Wild Brew 2010: Food, Music, Beer and You

Ladies and gents, we have a winner!

I loved this story because it's real. It's relatable. And it's a classic story of that first beer. Plus, it made my tummy do that nervous churn-y thing. I like that in a story. And I loved that he remembered the name of the officer who reprimanded him but, ultimately, let him off the hook.

Enjoy your passes, Michael! Here's to hoping that the beers you'll enjoy this weekend will cause you much less angst than that first one did.

The Linnaeus Teaching Gardens: From The Secret Tulsa Treasures File

Did you know that Tulsa is the site of a 1.5-acre teaching garden? It's true. It's called the Linnaeus Teaching Gardens, and since the summer of 2006, it can be found in Woodward Park at 21st Street and Peoria Ave., just east of the Tulsa Rose Garden. And guess what - you can see it free, and it's open to the public six days a week.

Also? It's beauty and serenity and information and volunteers are totally gonna blow you away. This ain't no garden-variety garden, people.

I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself. Backing away from the pun machine in 3, 2, 1...

Until you can pay a visit to the Linnaeus Teaching Gardens to experience if for yourself, I'm gonna let my two-year-old lead us on a virtual tour of sorts.

What to Do in Tulsa Today: Tasha's Pick

Sunshine! It does exist! Get out and enjoy it today. Here's one way to do that and catch a breeze at the same time:

Wednesday Night Ride
When: Starting at 4:30pm
Where: River Parks West, 23rd and Jackson
Each Wednesday during daylight savings time, more than 300 cyclists converge at 23rd and S. Jackson on the west side of the Arkansas River. This unsponsored, social ride attracts cyclists of all skill levels. Some ride a 16-mile route that includes the Sand Springs "Katy" Trail. Others ride more than 30 miles. Participants may park at the River West Festival Park (site of Oktoberfest). Public restrooms at the amphitheatre will be open from 4:30 p.m. to approx. 9:30 p.m. Groups form as early as 4:30 p.m. The largest group leaves around 5:30 p.m.
